For any matter relating to the protection of your data, you can write to the email address shown above.
What data we collect and for what purpose
We process only the data you provide or that is generated while you browse. Depending on how you interact with the Website, we may collect:
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data from the form (such as your name and email address), along with your IP address and the browser's user agent string, in order to manage publication and help detect spam. If you use an avatar, an anonymised version (hash) of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service so that it can be displayed.
Forms and contact
If you contact us by email or through the forms available, we process the data you provide in order to deal with your request and stay in touch.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe voluntarily, we use your email address to send you information about the book launch and other related updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Media content
If you upload images to the Website, it is best to avoid ones with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), since other people could download them and extract that information.
Browsing data and cookies
While you browse, cookies and similar technologies may be installed for technical and preference purposes. The details are set out in the Cookie policy.
Legal basis
The legal basis for processing your data depends on the purpose:
- Consent of the data subject, which you give by submitting a comment, subscribing or getting in touch (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Legitimate interest of the controller in the security of the Website and in preventing spam and fraudulent use (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Consent given may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.
Retention periods
Data is retained for the following periods:
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely, so that subsequent comments can be recognised and approved automatically instead of being held in a moderation queue.
- The data of subscribers is retained until they ask to unsubscribe.
- The data of registered users is retained for as long as their account exists. Each user can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
Recipients of the data
We do not sell or disclose your data to third parties for commercial purposes. Your data may be processed by service providers acting as data processors, solely on our instructions, including:
- Gravatar (Automattic Inc.), to display the avatar associated with your email address when you comment. You can read their policy at automattic.com/privacy.
- Automatic spam detection services, to which comments may be sent for checking.
- The Website's hosting provider, which stores the data on its servers.
International transfers
Some of the providers listed above (for example, the avatar or spam detection services) may be located outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, such transfers are covered by the appropriate safeguards provided for in the GDPR. You can request further information about these safeguards through our contact email address.
Your rights
You can exercise the following rights over your personal data at any time:
- Access: to find out what data of yours we process.
- Rectification: to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure (the “right to be forgotten”): to request the deletion of your data. If you have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you and ask us to erase it, other than any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
- Objection and restriction of processing.
- Portability: to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Withdrawal of consent previously given.
To exercise them, write to bcrespo@gmail.com stating which right you wish to exercise. If you believe the processing does not comply with the applicable rules, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), www.aepd.es.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on the Website may include embedded content (videos, images, posts, and so on). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that other website: it can collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with that content, especially if you have an account open on that site. The Owner does not control this processing, which is governed by the privacy policies of the respective third parties.
Data security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse or unauthorised access. However, no system is completely foolproof, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes in the law or in how the Website works. The version in force is the one published on this page, bearing the date shown at the top.
